About Great Waltham School

Great Waltham School has provided a Christian-based education for over 156 years. We serve the villages of Great Waltham and Pleshey and their surrounding communities.

The teaching staff at the school are all experienced teachers that are dedicated to the children and their education. Recently inspected by OFSTED the school was given a highly complementary report which is credit to the hard work of the new leadership team and staff.

The school has six classes, including a reception class for the youngest children, and many extra curricula activities and clubs. Children regularly take part in shows, concerts and sporting competitions and are able to take advantage of a breakfast club that has just been implemented at the request of the parents.

The school occupies a spacious site in the attractive village of Great Waltham, near Chelmsford. The building, part of which dates back to 1847, has excellent modern facilities and is constantly being upgraded to meet the needs of our children. In 1981, a large multipurpose hall was built and in 2009 a modern kitchen was added allowing us to provide freshly cooked lunches each day for all of the children.

Each of the six classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards, audio visual equipment as well as a variety of resources to help make the children's learning as stimulating as possible.

In 2013 a new ICT system was installed which gives the children the opportunity to use the computers to complement their learning in the classrooms as well as developing their skills with information technology.

A well stocked library and studio are also available for staff and children to use and the large field, outdoor play area and foundation stage outside classroom add to the diversity of learning environments that we have.
