School Uniform

Please click the button below to download the letter sent to parents and carers regarding the changes to school uniform. Please note that the uniform below is mandatory from September 2018. Until then the previous items of uniform can be worn.

School uniform is an important part of school life. It fosters a feeling of belonging in children, gives them pride in their appearance and prepares them for the more formal school uniform which they will wear at secondary school.

  • School tie – Velcro for the younger children
  • School logo jumper, cardigan or tank top
  • Black, white or grey plain socks
  • Dark grey tights
  • Black shoes
  • Plain coat
  • Plain bag/(EYFS book bags only)

Summer Uniform

  • Navy blue and white gingham dress to be worn with plain white socks or Grey skirt and white collar short sleeved shirt
  • Grey shorts to be worn with either black, grey or white socks
  • School logo jumper, cardigan or tank top
  • Plain coat

PE Kit

  • Navy shorts
  • Pale blue school logo t-shirts

Jewellery should NOT be worn at school.

Essex policy is that no child can participate in PE lessons / Sport with earrings and they cannot be taped up. Please bear this in mind when choosing a date to have ears pierced. At the start of the summer is an ideal time.

Extreme Hairstyles

Extreme hairstyles are not acceptable, keeping us in line with national standards and that of our link secondary school, Chelmer Valley High School. Children with these hair styles will be sent home in future. Examples (but not exhaustive) of extreme hair styles include:

  • Tram lines
  • Very short on one side and longer on the other or on top
  • Number ‘1’ or shaven
  • Dyed / coloured hair

Can we also remind children and their carers that all long hair must be tied up with an appropriate hair accessory (no large bows) that matches the school uniform, i.e. navy blue or black.

Personal items

Neither the County Council nor the school staff accepts liability for personal property brought onto the premises.

Name labels

All items of clothing brought into school should be clearly marked with the child's name, we have boxes of unnamed lost property at the school! Adhesive labels that attach to the size/wash instruction labels of clothing and stay attached through washing and day to day wear can be ordered by clicking the image below.
